Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, reiterated Iran’s strong opposition to the continued Saudi attacks on Yemen, saying that Saudi Arabia should "act with discretion" and put an end to the aggression.

In an interview with Al Alam Arabic language news network, Amir Abdollahian said, "We believe that Saudi Arabia’s resort to force for the resolution of regional problems, particularly Yemen’s problem, is a strategic mistake".

"The main point is that Saudi Arabia should act with discretion, [end] the war and halt the massacre of people in the region, particularly women and children in Yemen," he stated.

He further said that Saudi Arabia should end the inhumane blockade on Yemen and adopt a political approach toward all regional crises.

Saudi Arabia’s deadly air aggression against Yemen has continued unabated for more than four months.

On March 26, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies backed by the United States began to launch deadly airstrikes in Yemen in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Saudi Arabia.

Based on UN figures, over 3,261 people have been killed, 1,670 of whom were civilians in the Saudi onslaught.
