Yemen’s Houthi fighters have formed a stiff barrier of resistance to the designs of Saudi and its Gulf allies, with Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir declaring that "the Houthis are our neighbors," and that al-Qaeda and ISIS "must be confronted in Yemen and everywhere else," on May 12, 2016.

However, despite the overwhelming firepower of the wealthy Gulf alliance, Yemen’s Houthi rebels have successfully pursued a strategy of guerrilla resistance against the invading forces, al-Qaida, and the Islamic State group - and their morale has remained unflagging throughout the grueling conflict.
