Saudi-led Coalition Airstrike In Yemen Kills 11 Civilians

Yemeni security officials said an airstrike by the Saudi-led coalition has killed at least 11 civilians.

The civilians were apparently trying to escape the fighting in western Yemen on Tuesday when their vehicle was struck. The officials said the wounded include women and children in critical condition, with the death toll expected to rise.

Separately, United Nations officials said the coalition barred a UN flight to Yemen's capital, Sana’a, which is controlled by the Houthi Ansarullah revolutionaries. The plane was going to bring aid workers and BBC reporters from Djibouti.

The coalition has been waging an air war against the Houthis since March 2015, and shut down Sana’a's international airport a year ago.

The campaign has seriously damaged the country’s infrastructure. Local Yemeni sources have put the death toll from the Saudi war at over 12,000, including many women and children.
