An airstrike by the Saudi-led coalition struck a poor residential area in Yemen’s capital of Sanaa on Monday, killing 25 civilians and wounding at least 50, medical officials and the Houthi rebels said.
The Saudi-led airstrikes in Yemen have continued for the third day since the start of a UN-declared ceasefire late Friday.
The airstrike hit the slums of the Sawan neighborhood in eastern Sanaa early in the morning, the Houthis said.
Hospital officials said there were women and children among the casualties.
Airstrikes also hit other parts of Sanaa and 10 Yemeni provinces on Monday, according to local officials.
The pause in the fighting was meant to last a week to allow aid deliveries to the country’s 21 million people who have endured over three months of Saudi-led bombing.
Saudi Arabia has been bombarding different areas in Yemen since March 26-- without any authorization from the UN-- and heedless of international calls for the cessation of its deadly airstrikes against the impoverished country.
The Saudi attacks have killed more than 2,600 people and injured at least 11,000 since the military aggression began against Yemen on March 26, according to UN records.
