The Sudanese Army announced that five of its soldiers were killed during clashes with Yemen’s armed forces.

"We have lost five martyrs including an officer, and 22 others have been wounded," Sudan’s army spokesman Brigadier Ahmed Khalifa al-Shami said in a statement.

There were no further details given on where and when the Sudanese troops were killed.

Khartoum is part of the Saudi-led coalition bombing Yemen since March 2015.

Yemen’s Saba News Agency reported that the Houthi Ansarullah movement and the country’s Republican Guard killed a number of Saudi-backed fighters in the southern Lahj Governorate.

The Saudi-backed forces reportedly lost another eight fighters after launching an attack on the Sirwah District of the Mar’ib Governorate.
