Yemen’s Foreign Ministry issued a strongly worded condemnation of the terrorist attacks in Egypt, which left nearly 50 people dead.
The ministry described Sunday’s bombings, which were claimed by Daesh and targeted two Coptic churches in the Egyptian cities of Tanta and Alexandria, as criminal acts.
In a reference to the Saudi monarchy and its Persian Gulf allies, the ministry statement explains that, “supporters of terrorists are known to all, overlooked due to weapons deals and temporary investments”.
“The war on Yemen has helped terrorist groups, who have been carrying out terrorist operations around the world,” the statement added.
Saudi Arabia has been leading a military campaign in Yemen since March 2015, devastating the country’s infrastructure and killing over 12,000 people.
offensive designed to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement has also allowed terrorist groups to gain a foothold in some part of Yemen.
