The artillery of the Yemeni army and popular forces shelled on Thursday gatherings of Saudi-paid mercenaries in Wazeiyah area of Taiz province, a military official told the state-run news agency Saba.
The artillery shelling killed and injured a number of the mercenaries. The offensive also destroyed a military vehicle, the official added.
Through the March 2015-present military campaign, Saudi Arabia has been unsuccessfully seeking to return power to Yemen’s former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
The Yemeni army and allied fighters have been defending the nation against the invasion, which has claimed over 11,400 lives, according to the latest tallies.
Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
