Yemen’s Ministry of Human Rights condemned on Thursday the continuing Saudi aggression airstrikes and war crimes against the Yemeni civilians.

In a press statement to the state-run news agency Saba, the ministry said that “the Saudi aggression has been waging planned and systematic crimes and massacres against Yemeni civilians, women and children, and deliberately destroying the residential areas and infrastructure of the Yemeni people.”

The ministry called on the United Nations Security Council and humanitarian agencies to do their duties in halting the aggression, immediately end the all-out siege and re-open Sana'a international airport.

The ministry also called for an international independent investigation into Saudi war crimes against Yemeni civilians.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 11,403 people have been killed and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
