Ansarullah: Saudi Arabia Committing ’Genocidal War’ in Yemen

The head of the Ansarullah delegation in the UN-backed consultations on Yemen, Hamza Al-Houthi, stated that Saudi Arabia is committing a ‘genocidal war’ in the impoverished nation, as he said during a press briefing on Thursday.

Addressing a press briefing at the Geneva Press Club, Al-Houthi said that, "What we are facing in Yemen is a genocidal war by Saudi Arabia."

"We are facing permanent massacres in our country by Saudi Arabia and our allies. In fact, it’s a total massacre of our people, notably women and children", he further said.

"Our country has been totally destroyed by Saudi Arabia and its allies. We are suffering from an inhuman blockade. Our people are starving and our infrastructure has been bombed. Our school and university system have been completely paralyzed. It’s a real tragedy," Al-Houthi said.

Furthermore, he stressed that as far as he was concerned, the terrorist group al-Qaeda and Saudi Arabia were no different.

"They are both one of the same coin. It’s also Al-Qaeda that is profiting from the Saudi-led military onslaught in Yemen", he reiterated.

Thousands of Yemenis, mostly women and children, have been reportedly killed as a result of the deadly US-led Saudi military aggression on Yemen since March.

According to the UN, at least 2,600 people have been killed and 11,000 others wounded due to the conflict in Yemen since March 19.

UN Human Rights spokesman Rupert Colville also said recently this week that at least 1,412 civilians, including 210 women, have been killed and a further 3,423 injured since March 26.

Saudi Arabia first started its US-led military aggression against Yemen on March 26 - without a UN mandate - in an attempt to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement, and to restore power to Yemen’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, who is a close ally of Saudi Arabia.
