Army Foils Hirelings’ Progress in Jawf, Kill Dozens

The Yemeni army and popular committees forces repulsed an attempt by hirelings to advance on al-Ghail district of Jawf province, a military official said Friday.

The official explained that the hirelings tried to progress toward al-Ardhi village and al-Adhba area from three directions under intense overflights of Saudi warplanes.

Dozens of hirelings were killed or injured, including leaders, and two of their military vehicles were destroyed in the confrontations, he added.

The Saudi-led coalition’s fighter jets waged eight raids on al-Ghail district to support the hirelings’ advance.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 10,000 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
