Saudi warplanes launched several airstrikes against the Yemeni province of Lahij, killing 15 civilians and injuring as many others, some of whom have been reported to be in serious conditions.
For their part, media outlets allied with the Hadi regime, meanwhile, reported that a residential building was "mistakenly" targeted in the province.
Security officials said the airstrike, which also wounded nine civilians, was called in by pro-Hadi fighters who were locked in a fierce battle with the Houthi revolutionaries and Yemeni army for control over a mountain overlooking a key military base that is home to Hadi loyalists alongside allied troops from Sudan and the United Arab Emirates.
They said Jalis mountain was eventually captured by allied forces after a three-day battle in which some 45 people were killed from both sides.
The capture of the mountain places the Al-Anad air base, which once housed U.S. troops and Special Forces, within range of the Ansaullah’s artillery.
