A plane of the Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) loaded with medical aid arrived on Thursday in Sana’a International Airport.

The aid shipment contains 82,0726 tons of medical aid for patients with dialysis. The shipment is for the MSF’s projects in Yemen, including 87 tons of necessary medicines for dialysis patients, MSF head of mission in Yemen Will Turner said.

He added this is the first shipment and he expected the arrival of another shipment consisting of 162 tons by sea later.

Yemen has been under military attacks by Saudi Arabia since late March last year. The Saudi military strikes were launched in a failed effort to undermine the popular Houthi Ansarullah movement and bring the former fugitive president back to power.

More than 9,400 people, among them 2,236 children, have been killed and 16,015 others injured since the start of the aggression. The strikes have also taken a heavy toll on the impoverished country’s facilities and infrastructure, destroying many hospitals, schools, and factories.
