The Yemeni army and people’s committees backed by the Houthi Ansarullah on Monday destroyed four military vehicles, including armored vehicles in Asilan area of Shabwa province in southern Yemen.

A military source told Yemen’s Arabic-language al-Masirah news website that the Heroic army units destroyed the four military vehicles, including armored personnel carriers belonging to the US-backed Saudi-led coalition forces during heavy clashes that erupted in Asilan area.

On Sunday, 10 Saudi mercenaries were killed and 23 others injured, as coalition forces attempted to advance toward Asilan area.

The allied forces also destroyed two armored vehicles.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 8,300 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
