The Yemeni Army’s 48th Brigade of the Republican Guard - backed by Houthi forces and popular committees - seized full control over Jabal Al-Habashi in the Taiz Governorate of western Yemen after a violent battle with the Saudi-led Coalition and Hadi loyalists.
The Jabal Al-Habashi mountain range overlooks the imperative Mocha Coast of Yemen and contains one of the main roads that flows to the city of Dhubab in southern Taiz.
Its capture today by the Yemeni forces has cleared the threat posed by the Saudi-led Coalition and Hadi loyalists near the Mocha Coast, which is located in Taiz’s northwestern countryside.
Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
About 8,300 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
