Director of the Presidency Office Mahmoud al-Junid valued on Saturday the humanitarian role of the International Committee of Red Cross [ICRC] in Yemen despite the Saudi-led military campaign and unjust siege.
During his meeting with Head of the ICRC mission in Yemen Antoine Grand, al-Junid confirmed the keenness to cooperate with the mission and facilitate all difficulties so as to enable it to perform its humanitarian work.
The meeting dealt with the actions taken by the security forces to track down the kidnappers of one of the ICRC staff working in Yemen and bring them to justice.
Al-Junid explained that the abduction is a criminal act and incompatible with the values and ethics of the Yemeni people and targets the security and stability of Yemen.
For his part, head of the ICRC expressed his regret that some violated the inviolability of the Red Cross work and kidnapped one of its female cadres, who was on a humanitarian mission to provide medical services to Yemeni civilians without any political considerations.
He affirmed that the mission members are in Yemen in order to provide humanitarian assistance to civilians in need, pointing out that such actions hinder the work of the mission in helping the civilians in all provinces.
