Over 20 Saudi-led mercenaries were killed and 70 others were injured as the Yemeni army and popular committees thwarted their attempt to advance towards al-Omari military camp in Yemen’s Taiz province, according to battlefield sources on Tuesday.
The Yemeni forces also continued to confront the Saudi aggression as well as al-Qaeda militias across the country.
Yemen has been under a deadly military aggression by a Saudi-led coalition since March.
On March 26, a Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States began to launch attacks in Yemen in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former Yemeni president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Saudi Arabia.
The airstrikes have not been authorized by the United Nations [UN].
Over 2,615 civilians have been killed in the conflict in the last six months, according to the UN. Yet, other organizations put the death toll at much higher. According to the Yemeni health ministry, the death toll from the Saudi-led aggression is more than 6,000 so far, adding that 1,277 of those killed were children.
