The Saudi army has arrested 25 mercenaries from Abyan province, who are fighting in its ranks at the border front of Haradh in Hajjah province, military sources reported on Wednesday.

The sources said that Zaid al-Hajori, a field leader of the Saudi-backed mercenaries, assaulted recruits from Abyan during their protest against mistreatment and delay in salaries.

Many mercenaries threatened to escalate their protest, demanding the release of their detained comrades.

Angry protests against the Saudi-led coalition increased in the past months with protesters demanding to be returned to their areas.

Saudi Arabia deported 600 recruits last week through al-Wadeah crossing to Marib provinces. The deportees were sent back without being subject to medical examinations or quarantine.
