The director of Yemen’s Sana’a International Airport Khaled al- Shayef Tuesday denied the Saudi-led coalition’s claims regarding the transport of patients from Sana’a.
In a statement to Yemen Press Agency, al- Shayef confirmed the continued blockade on Sana’a International Airport and the limitation of flights to UN planes.
The Saudi-led coalition’s spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki said earlier in the day that there will be flights, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, to transport patients from the capital Sanaa to countries where they can receive appropriate treatment for their cases.
Sana’a Airport was due to reopen for flights last Saturday, after being delayed more than once, which prompted al-Shayef to announce to the media that the United Nations does not have credibility in the file of lifting the siege on the airport.
“The United Nations is disavowing the agreement reached on October 20 last year to start an air bridge to transport patients suffering from a critical situation requiring travel abroad,” he said.
