The so-called Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Yemen’s southern province of Shabwah on Monday organized a massive demonstration calling for the resignation of the Saudi-backed resigned Hadi regime.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) funds the STC while Saudi Arabia backs the resigned regime of former Yemeni Presiden Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi. Both Saudi Arabia and the UAE head a coalition of Arab states, including Sudan and Bahrain, that is bombing Yemen.
At the rally, the demonstrators demanded militias loyal to Hadi and the Islah party (Muslim Brotherhood) to leave the province.
The demonstration came as an oil pipeline in the province was destroyed by gunmen.
