U.N. Bought 20,000 Tonnes Wheat For Yemen - Trade

A United Nations aid agency purchased around 20,000 tons of milling wheat to be shipped to Yemen in a deal in December, European traders said on Thursday.

The wheat is expected to be sourced from Ukraine. Shipment is in January.

The U.N. has been providing widespread food aid to Yemen as the conflict continues in the country including substantial imports of wheat and wheat flour.

Saudi Arabia and its allies unleashed the deadly military aggression against Yemen in March 2015 in an attempt to reinstall the country’s former Riyadh-allied regime.

The Saudi-led offensive has destroyed Yemen's infrastructure and led to famine in the import-dependent state.
