Heavy losses are being reported among the ranks of Saudi-backed militiamen in Yemen’s Hodeidah province.
Hodeidah has been the scene of fierce fighting in recent months as the Saudi-led coalition tries to capture the provincial capital and strategic port city.
On Tuesday, the Yemen Press Agency cited a military official who reported more setbacks for the coalition after Yemeni forces shelled militant positions in Hodeidah.
Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched a devastating military campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the aim of bringing the resigned regime of Hadi back to power and crushing the country’s popular Houthi Ansarullah movement.
