A Zelzal-1 ballistic missile was fired by the Army's ballistic unit and Yemeni People's Committees on the Assir region in southern Saudi Arabia.

According to Yemeni sources, the missile hit its target, killing and injuring several Saudi commanders and mercenaries.

On Sunday, September 23, the unit of army drones and People's Committees of Yemen stormed a new military site of the pro-Riyad coalition on the west coast of the country.

The Yemeni army and People's Committees attacked Riyadh mercenaries in the provinces of Taiz and al-Baydha, killing and wounding several of them, al-Masirah reported. In the aftermath of the operation, Yemeni forces seized all kinds of weapons and ammunition belonging to the mercenaries.

At the beginning of the Saudi offensive, the ballistic unit of the Yemeni army and People's Committees used less sophisticated missiles to counter the aggressors. But as time went by, the unit grew by accumulating experience, which allowed them to optimize their ballistic system. Now, the missiles used are Zelzal-1, Zelzal-2, Qaher-2, al-Najm al-Thaqeb and also Barkan-2 and Badr-1 ballistic missiles which have played a crucial role in the balance of power and strengthening the Yemeni deterrent capacity. Both the former president and current president of Yemen's Supreme Political Council described 2018 as "the year of Yemeni ballistic missiles".

Missile attacks by the Yemeni army are a response to Saudi aggression. This aggression began in March 2015 and killed, wounded and displaced millions of Yemeni civilians.
