An Emirati soldier has succumbed to injuries he suffered while fighting in Yemen.

According to state news agency Wam, First Sergeant Naser Gharib Al Mazrouei died after sustaining serious wounds during a war against the Yemeni people.

Meanwhile, the General Command of the UAE Armed Forces announced that Second-Lieutenant Pilot Sultan Mohamed Ali Al Naqbi was also killed when his plane fell after sustaining a technical failure as part of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition's aggression against Yemen.

The UAE is a member of a Saudi-led coalition fighting against the Yemeni army backed by the Houthi Ansarullah movement and the popular committees in Yemen. The offensive, which was launched in 2015, is aimed at restoring the resigned regime of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

More than 100 Emirati soldiers have lost their lives to date while fighting in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 12,000 people have been killed and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
