The Bahraini authorities arrested a number of individuals taking part in a rally in which they shouted slogans condemning Saudi Arabia’s war against Yemen.

"In response to the video of an illegal rally that showed slogans-shouting against a GCC country, Deputy Chief of Public Security announced on Wednesday that an investigation had resulted in the identification of the participants and the arrest of some of them," a statement issued by Bahraini authorities read, adding that the search was on to arrest the remaining participants because such acts promoted disharmony, affected civil peace and were seditious.

The Shia majority in Bahrain opposes the Saudi-led war on Yemen.

The Bahraini regime is taking part in war on Yemen with Saudi Arabia that supports Manama in confronting the popular movement that demands putting an end to Al Khalifa monopoly over power.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 12,000 people have been killed and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
