The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights [OHCHR] said that the total death toll is now at least 1,693 civilians, with another 3,829 injured since March 26, when the Saudi aggression on Yemen started.

"The majority of the casualties are reported to have been caused by [Saudi-led] air strikes..." OHCHR Spokesperson Rupert Colville told reporters in Geneva, Switzerland.

The agency also reported that at least 165 civilians, including 53 children and 23 women, were killed between 3 and 15 July, and another 210 were injured during this period.

A Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States has been carrying out airstrikes against Yemen since March 26. The airstrikes have not been authorized by the UN.

The US-led Saudi military aggression began in an attempt to bring the fugitive former Yemeni president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, who is a close ally of Saudi Arabia, back to power, and to weaken the Houthi Ansarullah movement which is currently responding to the Saudi attacks on the country.
