Four people were killed and eight others were wounded in a car bombing outside a mosque in Yemen’s capital, Sana’a on Monday. The so-called "Daesh" ["ISIL"] extremist group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Children were among eight people wounded in the evening blast, Saba news agency reported.

"Daesh" had carried out a string of deadly attacks against targets in Yemen since March.

On July 7, at least one person was killed and five others were wounded in a "Daesh" extremist bomb attack on a mosque in the capital.

A car bomb exploded outside the al-Raoudh mosque in Southeast Sana’a as worshipers were leaving after prayers, according to security officials.

On June 20, another car bomb went off near Kobbat al-Mehdi mosque in Sana’a, killing three people and injuring seven others.

The extremist attacks by "Daesh" come amid ongoing military strikes by Saudi Arabia against Yemen.

A Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States has been carrying out airstrikes against Yemen since March 26. The airstrikes have not been authorized by the UN.

Based on UN figures, over 3,261 people have been killed, 1,670 of whom were civilians in the Saudi onslaught.

Earlier on Monday, 12 people, including 6 children, were killed in Saudi air raids on Sadr village in the northwestern Yemeni province of Sa’ada.

Two Yemeni civilians sustained injuries in Saudi airstrikes on the town of Herz in the northwestern province of Hajjah.

Two residential areas in the northern province of Amran were also targeted by Saudi warplanes.

Saudi fighter jets also pounded various areas across the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, killing at least three.

Saudi warplanes also bombarded government buildings in the northern Yemeni province of Jawf.
