FM Sends Condolences on Death of UN Russian Ambassador

Yemen’s Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf sent a cable of condolences to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the death of Ambassador Vitaly Churkin, the Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

In his cable, the Foreign Minister said the international community has lost an outstanding diplomatic figure, who had a strong presence in the United Nations and the Security Council.

He expressed his condolences to the Russian government, people and the family and friends of the deceased.

Vitaly Churkin, 65, served as Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations since 2006.
