Dozens of Saudi soldiers were killed and wounded when the artillery units of the Yemeni army and popular forces shelled their positions in Jizan and Najran provinces, a military official told the state-run news agency Saba on Wednesday.
In Jizan, the artillery hit the posts of soldiers in military sites of Masaiht bin Ladan and al-Sawdah.
Meanwhile, the national army destroyed a military vehicle of Saudi-paid mercenaries in Medi area, killing all aboard.
Moreover, the missile and artillery forces hit gatherings of the mercenaries in Saudi Alib headquarters and al-Khadhra border crossing point in Najran province, the official added.
Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
About 11,403 people have been killed and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
