Dozens of US-backed Saudi-paid mercenaries were killed and injured on Saturday when forces of the Yemeni army and popular committees repulsed the militants’ infiltration attempt in Medi district of Hajja province, a military official told the state-run news agency Saba.
The mercenaries' attempt, which lasted from Friday night until Saturday morning, was heavily covered by the aggression warplanes and Apache helicopters.
Through the March 2015-present military campaign, Saudi Arabia has been unsuccessfully seeking to return power to Yemen’s former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
The Yemeni army and allied fighters have been defending the nation against the invasion, which has claimed over 11,400 lives, according to the latest tallies.
Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
