The Yemeni NGOs Coalition for Child Rights Care (YNGOC) on Thursday strongly condemned Tuesday’s heinous crime committed by the Saudi-led coalition against students and teachers of Al-Falah School in Nehm District, Sana'a Province, which killed eight students and injured 15 others.
In a statement to the state-run news agency Saba, the YNGOC condemned in the strongest terms the war crime committed against the school children.
"This is not the first of its kind," YNGOC said. "This act was preceded by dozens of crimes against children and the Yemeni people, including educational institutions, without exception or regard to any ethics or human values," the statement added.
"The (Saudi) air strikes continue day and night, targeting civilian installations, in which more than 1900 schools and educational institutions have been destroyed and more than 2 million child have been deprived from education," the YNGOC elaborated.
The statement concluded "holding the international community, the Security Council, the United Nations Human Rights Council, international organizations working in the field of human rights and the rights of children, full responsibility for the crimes of the Saudi aggression and the consequent of keeping silent about these heinous crimes."
The NGOs also demanded that measures be taken to lift the land, air and sea blockade imposed by the Saudi-led coalition on the people of Yemen.
Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
About 11,403 people have been killed and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
