The initial death toll from the Saudi-led coalition airstrikes on a school in Nehm district northeast of the capital Sanaa rose to eight students, according to residents, rescuers and officials.
The air raid targeted Al-Falah Elementary School Tuesday morning injuring another 15 students. The wounded were in critical condition, rescuers reported.
Rescue operation were underway to search for possible survivors as many students were still under the rubble.
Saudi Arabia has come under international opprobrium for the sheer size of the casualties from the war it is leading since March 2015 to crush the Houthi Ansarullah movement and bring back the former Yemeni government to power.
The offensive has so far killed 11,403 amid countless reports suggesting deliberate and indiscriminate targeting of civilian infrastructure by Saudi jets and mercenaries.
