A senior commander of the brigade 26 of the Saudi-paid mercenaries was killed on Monday along with several militants in a well-planned military operation by the Yemeni army and popular committees in Bayhan district of Shabwa province.

A military source disclosed to Yemen’s News Agency 'Saba' that so-called colonel Hamedan Alnihmi and 11 of his companions were killed in the confrontations with the army and popular committees in Alsaq area of Bayhan district.

Dozens of Saudi-paid mercenaries, including leaders have been killed in the clashes at Bayhan district.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 11,403 people have been killed and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
