Akram Attia was sworn in on Tuesday before the President of the Supreme Political Council (SPC) Saleh al-Sammad as the Deputy Prime Minister in the National Salvation government.
Attia pledged to work hard and exert efforts for the sake of Yemen's victory and its freedom.
The Houthi Ansarullah movement and its allies announced the formation of the “national salvation” government in November 2016. It is led by the former governor of Aden, Abdul Aziz Bin Habtoor, and is tasked with the administration of country’s internal affairs and dealing with Saudi Arabia’s relentless aggression against the impoverished nation.
It is comprised of 35 ministers, including seven state ministers and three deputy prime ministers.
The government is to replace the Supreme Political Council, which was established by the Houthis and the party of former president Ali Abdullah Saleh in July 2016.
