Yemeni Minister Stresses on Enhancing Human Rights Principles

Human rights minister Alia Faisal Abdullatif said her ministry is working to enhance and protect the human rights principles for all society in Yemen, including refugees who have fled to Yemen more than two decades ago to escape wars and conflicts in their countries.

"The large numbers of foreign refugees who have escaped into Yemen through legal or illegal means made human trafficking gangs in Africa gain advantage from those escapers’ needs.. in some cases the gangs use those refugees to destabilize the security and stability of the country, and so the national committee to combat human trafficking was formed here to tackle the issue," Abdullatif said at an opening of a training workshop for specialists of refugee community in the capital Sana’a.

The minister said the committee has worked nonstop to combat human trafficking through spreading awareness and presenting a number of relevant national bills to the parliament for approval, but the ongoing Saudi air aggression in hampering the process.
