Deputy Speaker of Yemen’s Shura Council Mohammed al-Bukhiti and Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Affairs Dr. Hussein Maqbouli on Wednesday met with UN Resident Representative and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen Lise Grande.
The officials discussed the possible support that can be provided by the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen for enhancing the precautionary efforts taken to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
In the meeting, al-Bukhiti stressed that the United Nations should play its role with regard to pressuring Saudi-led aggression coalition to allow the entry of drugs and medical supplies to confront the Corona virus.
Al-Bukhiti and Maqbouli also met with head of the International Committee of the Red Cross’s delegation in Yemen Franz Rauchenstein.
The officials talked about the roles that the ICRC’s delegation in Yemen can play in combating the global pandemic as part of its humanitarian and relief tasks.
The meeting also touched on the ICRC interventions at the land ports with regard to the precautionary quarantine procedures to prevent the spread of the virus.
