Member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council Muhammad Ali al-Houthi late on Sunday praised the Iraqi parliament’s decision to expel US troops as “responsible and national”.

“Parliaments must take such serious positions in critical times,” al-Houthi wrote in a post on Twitter.

The Iraqi parliament voted on Sunday to remove US troops from Iraq. In an extraordinary session, lawmakers backed a resolution to ask the government to end an agreement with Washington to station 5,200 troops in Iraq.

The move comes after Iranian Major-General Soleimani and Iraqi paramilitary commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were killed on Friday near Baghdad's international airport in an air strike ordered by US President Donald Trump.
