Yemeni Defense Minister Major General Mohammed Nasser al-Atefi on Thursday said the army and popular committees possess strategic deterrent weapons to defend the nation and its sovereignty.
“The real war between us and them has not yet begun,” al-Atefi said in a statement addressing the Saudi-led coalition.
“Global security depends on the sovereignty and stability of the national security of the Republic of Yemen,” the defense minister added. “International interests, especially economic ones, will be harmed … in the event of continued aggression and global silence regarding its crimes against our people and our homeland.”
Al-Atefi stressed that the Yemeni people have the right to defend themselves since the international community turns a blind eye to the crimes committed by the Saudi-led coalition.
