Yemen’s Ministry of Public Health revealed more than 43 thousand patients died due to their inability to travel for treatment abroad.

The Saudi-led coalition has been imposing an air blockade on Sana’a International Airport since 2016.

“More than 320,000 cases of patients were unable to travel for treatment due to the siege and the closure of Sana’a airport,” Dr. Yousef Al-Hadhri, the spokesman of the Ministry of Health, said over the phone.

He added that thousands of people could have been treated if they had been able to travel abroad.

The siege and the closure of the airport also caused the death of more than 28 thousand cancer patients due to lack of required medical supplies.
