In an interview with the Russia Today [RT] television channel, Ould Sheikh said that, "It is the time for a final ceasefire as the first truce did not succeed and the Yemeni people need a lasting ceasefire to get rid of the sufferings and the humanitarian crisis".
It is now more than six months into the war in Yemen which was the second country in the world in terms of children’s famine, the UN envoy said, pointing out that, "There were 7 million Yemenis before the war who needed assistance and now situations have become worse that 21 million Yemenis are in need of aid".
Ould Sheikh said that Ansarullah are ready to provide concessions, noting that they affirmed readiness to stick to the Resolution No. 2016 and the return of the government.
Since March 26, a Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States has been carrying out a military aggression on Yemen by launching airstrikes against the country. The airstrikes have not been authorized by the United Nations [UN].
