Yemen has been suffering from a conflict between forces loyal to former Saudi-backed President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and the country’s popular Houthi Ansarullah movement. The confrontation escalated after a Saudi-led coalition intervened in the conflict in March 2015 to back the the resigned regime. Since then the coalition has been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthis at Hadi's request. The conflict has resulted in a massive humanitarian crisis that the United Nations has deemed the worst in the world.
