A Saudi troop captured by Yemeni forces called on Saudi Arabia on Wednesday to put an end to its deadly onslaught on Yemen, al-Masirah TV reported.

In the footage aired by al-Masirah TV, a soldier identifying himself as Ibrahim Mohammad Hakami called on Saudi Arabia’s armed forces to put down their guns and reject the kingdom’s justification for the war on Yemen.

"The Saudi army and the Defense Ministry should stop this war which is of no benefit but the destruction and killing of our brothers in Yemen", he appealed in the name of the detained Saudi soldiers.

"Do not believe what you are told of the justifications for this war and we are brothers in religion and neighbors and this war is an abuse of the relationship between us and neighboring Yemen", he further said.

Moreover, he thanked the Yemeni troops who had captured him for their humane treatment of prisoners.

The Saudi detainee appeared in very good condition and assured his family that he was doing well.

A Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States has been carrying out a military aggression on Yemen by launching airstrikes against the country since March 26. The airstrikes have not been authorized by the United Nations [UN].

The US-led Saudi aggression began in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to the country’s fugitive former Yemeni president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Saudi Arabia.

As a result, the Yemeni army backed by popular committees and tribal fighters has been responding to the aggression by targeting several Saudi border military posts and cleansing several areas across the country from Hadi and al-Qaeda-linked militias.
