The European Union on Wednesday called on Yemen’s warring parties to support “the UN led efforts towards a political solution of this protracted conflict”, adding that “the EU expects a rapid implementation of the Stockholm agreement.”
The statement comes following a Saudi airstrike that hit a Save the Children supported hospital in Kitaf on Tuesday, killing eight people, including five children.
“It is crucial that all parties to the conflict respect international humanitarian law and ensure the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure,” the EU spokesperson’s statement read.
Save the Children’s team has reported that security is continuing to deteriorate, with Saudi-led coalition warplanes regularly flying overhead and air strikes continuing in the surrounding areas.
The air raid comes as thousands of Yemeni people marked four years since the beginning of the devastating Saudi-led aggression against Yemen that has so far killed thousands of civilians.
