Yemeni Minister of Education Yahya al-Houthi on Sunday accused the Saudi-led coalition of targeting the education system in the country.

According to al-Houthi, the Saudi-led coalition has bombed more than 3,526 educational facilities in 22 Yemeni provinces, of which 402 were completely destroyed, during four years of aggression.

The minister confirmed at a press conference that the compelling evidence of numbers and images is sufficient to expose the coalition’s conspiracy against the education system.

He noted 660 educational facilities were closed as a result of the aggression, while 1,465 others were partially damaged.

Al-Houthi also explained that 993 educational institutions were used to house people displaced by the US-Saudi aggression against the country.

He, furthermore, pointed out that the Saudi-led war on Yemen affected teachers and the workforce in the education sector, explaining that approximately 200,000 teachers in 22 provinces have had salaries cut. This affected over 4.5 million students in the process.
