The European Union reiterated on Thursday “its full support to the UN Special Envoy's efforts in implementing the Stockholm Agreement”, urging the parties to the Yemeni conflict “to fully and rapidly implement these commitments.”

Speaking during the 40th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, the EU’s Walter Stevens stated that Brussels “reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of civilians and to promoting accountability for human rights violations and abuses.”

“We stress the importance of upholding international humanitarian and human rights law at all times,” Stevens told the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet.

He also called on the warring Yemeni sides “to ensure that access is granted” to the Group of Eminent Experts on Yemen “to properly perform its duties.”
