The US-backed Saudi-led coalition forces on Saturday shelled various areas in Hodeida province with artillery and machine guns, a security official told Yemen Press Agency.

According to the official, the bombardment targeted Koa’i area east of Durihami district.

Saudi Arabia and its allies unleashed a deadly military aggression against Yemen in March 2015 in an attempt to forcefully reinstall the country’s former Riyadh-allied regime.

The Saudi-led offensive has destroyed Yemen's infrastructure and led to famine in the import-dependent state.

Thousands of people were killed and hundreds of thousands of others were displaced.
