The Chairman of Yemen’s Supreme Revolutionary Committee (SRC), Mohammed al-Houthi, welcomed the announcement of a UN-sponsored ceasefire in Hodeida slated to take effect on Tuesday.
“Peace has been the first choice from the very beginning,” Mohammed Ali al-Houthi said in in a post on Twitter, adding that the right to self-defense was necessary in order to confront the aggression imposed on Yemen.
“Committing to the agreements is the real test for the seriousness of peace,” he added.
The SRC chief affirmed that any decision that would not end the aggression “is a message legitimizing crimes committed against Yemen”.
