The United Nations special envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths arrived at Yemen’s port city of Hodeida.
In a press statement on Friday, Griffiths said “his visit to Hodeida holds a clear message to the world and the United Nations that the port will remain open to delivery of humanitarian aid.”
“We will work together with the world to avoid Hodeida city the military confrontations and keep the infrastructure and services,” the statement added.
Griffiths stressed on his responsibility to maintain security in the city and success of the peace talks in Sweden.
The UN envoy arrived in the capital Sana’a on Thursday where he met with senior Houthi leaders to discuss their attendance in the next round of negotiations, expected early December.
