The organization Doctors Without Borders said it is ''extremely concerned'' for its patients and personnel in Hodeida, in Yemen, due to fighting increasingly close to healthcare facilities. Heavy fighting and bombardments, MSF said, have resumed inside Hodeida with clashes very close to the hospital Al-Salakhana, where one of the organization's teams is working.
Since the start of the new offensive launched by forces supported by Saudi Arabia and the Emirates, Doctors Without Borders stressed in a statement, medical teams have treated over 500 people who were injured in the war.
''Since 2015 - explained Caroline Seguin, who is in charge of MSF operations in Yemen - our healthcare structures have been hit six times in Yemen, 27 people have been killed and 40 were injured. All sides in the conflict need to guarantee that civilians and civil facilities like hospitals are protected''.
The hospital of Al-Salakhana remains one of three public hospitals that are still open in the area.
The hospital of Al-Thawrah, the main healthcare practice in the city, is working and is also under threat as the frontline is quickly getting closer.
