The Houthi revolutionaries on Wednesday repelled a large offensive of the Saudi-led coalition and its Yemen proxies on their positions in the area of “Kilo 16” between the district center of al-Durayhimi and the city of Hodeida on the western Yemeni coast, according to the Houthis’ media center.
The Yemeni al-Masirah TV said that Houthi fighters destroyed 16 vehicles of the coalition, half of which are US-made Oshkosh Light Combat Tactical All-Terrain Vehicles. Furthermore, the Houthis killed and injured more than 45 Saudi-backed Yemeni fighters.
The Houthis said that warplanes and attack helicopters of the Saudi-led coalition supported the failed offensive with more than 50 airstrikes. One of the airstrikes targeted several trucks carrying refugees, which resulted in the death of 15 civilians including women and children.
The Saudi-led coalition launched its attack on al-Durayhimi and Kilo 16 exactly one month ago. Since then, the coalition has captured several positions around the district center and near Kilo 16. However, it is yet to break the Houthis’ main defense line.
