The Yemeni army backed by the Popular Committees has launched a retaliatory attack on a military base in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern Jizan region, killing several soldiers, Yemen’s al-Masirah TV network reported on Saturday.

Several Saudi military vehicles were also destroyed in the attack, al-Masirah TV network said.

According to the report, the Yemeni forces also demolished several military vehicles in an attack on a base in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern Asir region.

A Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States has been carrying out deadly airstrikes against Yemen. The airstrikes have not been authorized by the UN.

The death toll of civilians has risen to at least 1,916, with another 4,186 civilians wounded since the escalation of the conflict in Yemen in March, according to UN records recently last week.

As a result, the Yemeni army backed by popular committees and tribal fighters have been responding to the US-led Saudi aggression.

The aggression began in an attempt to restore power to Yemen’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who is a close ally of Saudi Arabia, and to undermine Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement which is currently responding to the attacks on the country.
